Welcome to DeGrand Angus…

DeGrand Angus is a family operation committed to raising and supplying top quality seed stock to the commerical cattlemen of Montana.  We are the fifth and sixth generations of the family to be engaged in ranching in the Baker area.  We are excited to have the opportunity to show you some of our cattle and present our breeding program for your evalution.

As the Angus breed recognizes more and bettter carcass traits we will use this information to improve our herd for the customer, but we will never use a “carcass” bull unless it still passes all economical traits and criteria that we deam necessary.

Our first purchase of registered Angus was in 1974. Now we run approximately 480 registered mother cows and 100 registered yearling heifers.  DeGrand Angus does not creep-feed these cattle.  We are thus able to better evaluate the cow herd.  Our goal  has been to breed cattle that have moderate frame, and to have a quiet dispostion.  We believe temperment affects gain.  All our cows must be capable of doing their job in Montana’s harsh, ever changing environment.  Those who can’t are culled.
